Jimmy Bone was one of Stirling’s most respected footballers, known for his goalscoring ability and dedication to the game. The Fallin striker became an immediate hero with Partick Thistle after scoring in the Jags’ historic 4-1 League Cup final win against Jock Stein’s Celtic in 1971. Bone would join Norwich City, helping the Canaries earn promotion to the English top-flight. He represented the Scotland national football team, scoring against Denmark in a World Cup qualifier, and also represented Celtic, Arbroath and Hearts. After retiring, Bone continued to serve the game as a coach and manager, helping St Mirren lift the Scottish Cup in 1987 alongside lifelong pal Alex Smith before steering Zambian side Power Dynamos to African Cup Winner’s Cup glory in 1991.
